Whenever I’m passing through Nagoya Station on my way somewhere, I always stop by Sake no Okadaya. What really sets it apart is its sheer volume of craft beer! It also doubles as Y.MARKET Brewing’s office, so it stocks almost every one of their beers, new releases included. It’s also about a 10-minute walk from Nagoya Station, which is a nice bonus. On top of that, they carry a carefully selected range of overseas craft beers, and the flavor is outstanding too!
Whenever a trip takes you through Nagoya, bring a cooler bag and grab something to liven up dinner later on the road
Craft Beer: Y.MARKET Brewing — When in Doubt, Try This!
Lupulin Nectar
Juicy like tropical fruit juice. Soft on the palate.
This is Y.MARKET’s flagship beer, known for its heavy haze.
It uses an almost unbelievable amount of hops, yet the bitterness stays gentle.
The result tastes like a nectar made of hops.

Hysteric IPA
Fruity aroma. A sharp, vivid bitterness. Brewed generously with five hop varieties, this is Y.MARKET’s standard IPA, built around getting the quality of that bitterness just right!
Medium-bodied, with a slightly higher ABV.
Hop characters reminiscent of passion fruit, citrus, grapefruit, lychee, and green apple intertwine in a complex way.

TROPICAL KRUSH
A Hazy IPA brewed with the new “Krush” hop.
Bright, hazy yellow in color, with a medium body. The mouthfeel is soft, and you’ll pick up hop characters of mango, apricot, peach, and a hint of mixed berry and white grape.
A tropica~l character crushes in and blends together beautifully — a truly tropical~ ♪ pour. Released 2025/1/30.

What I picked up at Sake no Okadaya was NEW ONIGASHIMA Ⅷ. If you’re a Hazy IPA fan, this is one you have to try! (Depending on the season, it may not be in stock.)
That aroma is seriously addictive, right?!

- Our annual collaboration Hazy IPA, brewed together with Onidensetsu.
- A heavily hazy, light gold beer with the same light body as the rest of the Onigashima series. Even so, the mouthfeel is rich and deeply satisfying. Mango and passion fruit dominate the hop aroma, with just the right hint of berry and guava rounding out the flavor.

One of the best things about Sake no Okadaya is that the staff know craft beer inside and out — definitely ask them questions and let them teach you a thing or two!
Craft beer can be confusing at first, but once you learn from someone who knows their stuff, you’ll find the style you love!
Craft beer comes in so many varieties that at first you’ll have absolutely no idea what to pick. In the beginning you’ll run into plenty of misses along with the hits, but as you gradually figure out the styles you like, the fun really opens up.
Not that long ago, I was actually more on the “not really into it” side myself — every single beer I tried at first just wasn’t to my taste, so I’d basically stopped drinking it altogether. But as people who knew their stuff kept teaching me things, I gradually discovered the appeal, so in the early days I’d really recommend asking someone knowledgeable and trying a variety of flavors!
